Child safety program in Auburn

AUBURN — Parents are invited to bring their children to a child safety event for a free biometric fingerprinting, photo and DNA identification kit.

The event, endorsed by anti-crime activist John Walsh of “America’s Most Wanted,” will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, at Auburn Motor Sales, 699 Center St.

Biometrics is the newest and most advanced technology available today for obtaining fingerprints, allowing a child’s fingerprints to be immediately submitted to the Federal Bureau of Identification database as soon as they are reported missing, which makes the fingerprints available to all law enforcement agencies throughout the United States.

Parents attending the event will also receive a free child safety journal to record necessary vital information about a child, as well as other important facts parents will need in case a child is missing.

The information collected during the event will be given to parents to hold and will not be included in any national database. The event sponsor keeps no records on file. For more information, call 1-888-873-9532.
