RUMFORD — Rumford Public Library’s Children’s Theatre program will be “crawling” with excitement and fun this summer with the stage adapted version of Disney’s “A Bug’s Life.” The play has been written and adapted specifically for the library’s Summer Fest program by Susan DeRoehn and Lisa Picard. They will also work together to direct the show.
The show is open to children ages 5-15, although older children are encouraged to call or come to auditions as there is always a need for stage and rehearsal help. There are several speaking roles for both boys and girls. DeRoehn encourages all children with an interest in theater to audition.
“This program is great because we make sure every child is involved. We have veteran performers who have been in the play since they were four years old. We also have kids who come into the show at 15 for the very first time. There is a place and purpose for everyone regardless of experience,”DeRoehn said.
Auditions will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, and Thursday, June 2, in the Rumford Public Library public room. “A Bug’s Life” will be presented to the public in matinee and evening performances on Thursday, July 28. If you are interested in being in the play but can’t make auditions, or for any other questions regarding the show, contact Susan DeRoehn at 418-7813.
