Chocolatiers take top awards at chocolate event


AUBURN — More than 150 people attended the 2nd annual SeniorsPlus ChocoLArt event on March 20, where 10 chocolate vendors competed for top honors in their field. The Bankery Bakery from Skowhegan won the judge’s choice award, The Hilton Garden Inn, Auburn Riverwatch won the judge’s best use of chocolate award, Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center of Lewiston won best display award and Rolly’s Diner & Catering in Auburn won the coveted people’s choice award.

The event, held at the Hilton Garden Inn, was a fundraiser for SeniorsPlus and the proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels and other SeniorsPlus programs. The afternoon included chocolate sampling, music by Three Point Trio and an extensive display of photography, art, crafted items and jewelry from local artisans for auction.

Other vendors at the event included Cake and Candy Creations of New Gloucester, CMCC Culinary Arts of Auburn, Ella’s Candy of Lewiston, Heather’s Bakery of Mechanic Falls, Maine Gourmet & Coastal Cookies of Lewiston and Pastiche Corks & Cupcakes Deli of Auburn.
