WILTON – Western Maine Christian Academy celebrated its second graduation ceremony with an outside service on the grounds of the campus recently.

Ronald E. French Jr. of Farmington was this year’s only graduating senior at the private Christian school.

“As is the way with a small school, we don’t always have a multitude of students in a senior class,” said Administrator Cynthia Thomas in her welcoming remarks, “However, whether there is one, 10, 100 or however many students graduating, this is always a time to be properly marked and celebrated as an incredible life accomplishment.”

French is considering learning different trades, from excavation to welding to truck driving. He enjoys working with his dad on their farm in Mercer. During his senior year, along with his academic schedule, French participated in a career exploration program with a local excavation company.

The commencement speaker was Machaela Curry of the Maine Character Resource Program in Portland. Curry is a parent educator for the program and spoke on how important it is that people endeavor to treat each other with love, respect and encouragement. She went on to talk about the different ways people can reach out to each other as they move through life together.

Graduation activities concluded with a barbecue put on by the school for the graduate, his family and friends.
