AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union of Androscoggin County’s clubhouse, the Foss Mansion, a historic house museum which is on the National Registry of Historic Houses and is part of the Historic Downtown Auburn neighborhood, will be open to the public for a Christmas Open House from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14.
Over the past month, WLU members and professional designers have volunteered their time and holiday items to transform two floors of the mansion into a Christmas wonderland. Docents will be available during the open house to talk about the history of WLU, the Foss Mansion and Horatio and Ella Foss who built the mansion between 1914-1917.
WLU’s mission is to promote the intellectual, cultural and educational advancement of its members and the community and to preserve the Foss Mansion as a nonprofit museum. Take this opportunity to see the interior splendor of this eclectic Georgian-Revival house with Spanish and Colonial influences.
Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for students (with ID); and children under 12 are admitted free. The Foss Mansion is at 19 Elm St. For more information, email [email protected]
