Calvary welcomes pastor from workshop

LEWISTON — Sunday, Feb. 2, Calvary United Methodist Church welcomes Pastor Casey Collins back from a four-day workshop on creativity in preaching.

Communion will be celebrated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Child care is available. All are welcome.

Calvary is a “reconciling church” and is located at 59 Sabattus St.

A Tuesday afternoon Bible study will begin at the church in February.

First U. Church lists Feb. services

PARIS — The February schedule for the First Universalist Church on Pine Street includes Sharon Bouchard officiating the worship service on Feb. 2. The title of Bouchard’s sermon is “Violins in the Street.”

Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the Feb. 9 and Feb. 23 services and Anita White will conduct the worship service of Feb. 16.

All worship services start at 10 a.m. and are followed by fellowship, good conversation and coffee. All are welcome and childcare is available. The First Universalist Church is wheelchair accessible.

Rev. Gary Bragg to be guest speaker

SUMNER — Rev. Gary Bragg will be the guest speaker at the Congregational Church of East Sumner on Sunday, Feb. 2. Worship starts at 9 a.m. and is followed by fellowship and refreshments.

Sunday School for children age 4 through sixth-grade begins at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Bragg is the pastor of the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, 62 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston.

Synagogue offers online learning center

BANGOR — Bangor’s Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue is now offering the opportunity for families to grow in Judaism no matter where they are in the state of Maine with its new online learning center.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, families can access the online learning center from their home computers and learn in the privacy of their own home.

Students can learn Hebrew and Jewish Living by completing assignments, playing learning games and watching age-appropriate videos.

On Shabbat, round out learning by joining members at Congregation Beth Israel for services, classes and fellowship.
