Greene and Dave Currier of Oxford drive their horse-drawn sleighs into the woods
during the 17th annual “World’s Greatest Sleigh Ride” in Lisbon Falls on Sunday.
Ten or so horse teams from throughout Maine pulled to help raise money for the
Pine Tree Society. Most of the sleighs were used by woodsman to haul logs out of
the woods. A few sleighs are used today for logging, but most of the work is
done by skidders now, said Jim Hawkes of Albion. The Pejepscot Sno-Chiefs
Snowmobile Club and Farmers Draft Horse, Mule and Pony Club hosted the
Valentine’s Day event.
