BATH — Studio Theatre of Bath will stage the Tony Award-winning musical comedy “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 28-30, and June 4-6, at the Chocolate Church Arts Center.
The show focuses on six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, who learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
With its appealing cast of lovable misfits, nerds and neurotics, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” captures the angst, exhilaration and heartache that make growing up so painful and so wonderful.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday shows are at 2 p.m.
Tickets, which are $20 for adults and $17 for seniors, may be purchased at the Chocolate Church Arts Center by calling 442-8445. Group rates are available.
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is directed by Justin St. Louis, with musical direction by Sarah Sturdivant.
