TURNER — Police are investigating an early morning motorcycle crash on a dirt road in Turner.
According to Sgt. Don Shead of the Maine State Police, the crash occurred at about 12:58 a.m. Sunday on Betty Road in Turner. Kristin Gagne, 25, of Auburn was pronounced dead at the scene after a motorcycle she was a passenger on hit three trees and a rock.
The driver of the 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Matthew Alexander, also 25, of Turner received just minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Shead said that it wasn't clear why the two were traveling on Betty Road. He said it was believed they were visiting friends that lived along the dead end road.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said that alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Maine State Police.
