Truck tears down power lines and transformer at Elks Lodge in Lewiston

LEWISTON — A driver attempting to turn his tractor-trailer truck around in the Elks Lodge parking lot on outer Lisbon Street snagged some low-hanging power lines, dragging down a pole and transformer Monday afternoon.

A driver attempting to turn around in the Elks Lodge parking lot on outer Lisbon Street in Lewiston snagged some low hanging power wires with his truck Monday afternoon.

Lewiston fire and police officers responded to the scene. There were no injuries reported. The driver of the truck, who was not identified, stood nearby talking on a cellphone.

Central Maine Power Co. turned the power off and assessed the damage and repairs needed.

It was unclear whether the accident caused additional power outages in the area, but the lines were live when they were snagged.

The truck was had Portland Air Freight decals on it.

If that is the case,then C.M.P. is in violation and should absorb the total cost of repair!
