Domestic violence survivor Trisha Smith and her three children, Trista, left, Tiffany, middle and Tabby, 12, listen to speakers at Kennedy Park Monday evening during a Domestic Violence Memorial Vigil sponsored by Safe Voices. Several dozen members of the community and public servants attended the vigil. Participants walked from the park to Courthouse Plaza after several guest speakers talked about domestic violence. With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, many businesses, hospitals and municipal buildings in the area have bathed their buildings in purple lighting to bring awareness to the issue.
