Maine Equine Welfare Alliance, an advocacy group made up of horse-owners, horse-lovers and people in the equine industry, is looking for new members.
Recently formed based on recommendations from the Legislative Task Force on Equine Welfare, the alliance is dedicated to saving horses from abuse, abandonment and neglect, and helping horse-owners who are struggling to provide for their animals.
The alliance will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the Maine Farm Bureau in Augusta. At that meeting the group will nominate and elect sub-committee chairs, who will also serve as board members.
