Lewiston/Auburn 5K Bridge Run
Participants cross the Bernard Lown Peace Bridge during the start of the Lewiston-Auburn 5K Bridge Run in Auburn on Sunday. The final leg of the Greater L-A Triple Crown 5K Series set its own race record of 566 competitors. Matthew Peters of Auburn won the men's race with a time of 16:36. Lillian Childress of Lewiston won the women's division with a time of 19:31.

The Perreaults are two of the 566 competitors who competed in the final leg of the Greater L-A Triple Crown 5K Series. Janet ran all three races this summer, while her husband focused on training with the YMCA "Couch to 5K" program. "I did the actual training. He did the actual couch part," said Janet. "It has been a lot of fun."

Bob....I went to public
Bob....I went to public schools. My children have gone and are going to public schools. The problem is the government interfering with education in the first place. We already have the choice to send our children to another school if our school is failing to meet the standards. The problem is all schools in Lewiston are failing and it is not because of the teachers. It is because of the standardized testing that is pointless. The averages of the tests include the ELL students as well as the students that speak English very well. Stop mandating things and start paying for what the students and teachers need. Remember if a child doesn't learn it is not just the fault of the school. Parents are responsible for teaching their children as well as children are responsible for doing the work and not blowing it off.
I have cousins who attended a religious private school and guess what...they are no smarter then any of the rest of us. The only difference is that their education cost more then the rest of the family's did.

I'm really pleased that Wayne Werts is running for the Legislature. He's a good person, a hard worker, and knows his community well. I think he will bring a lot to the table and do an excellent job for his constituents!

Ernest, I never said it was the states fault. My point was that the jobs here do NOT pay enough to support a family..ergo you have to work multiple jobs...ergo you are then neglecting your kids...ergo...etc etc etc. A minimum wage job barely covers the childcare expenses. And just an FYI...i said what i said because most people feel that way. Everyone is so worried about welfare and yet they are doing nothing to bring good paying jobs to the city. And call centers...that is a joke...been there done that...not all it is cracked up to be. I used my time getting assistance to get certified in three different medical areas. I was at the top of all my classes and yet when I apply for a job I get told.."Sorry we are looking for someone with experience".....how do people get experience when they can't get hired because employers want experience. It is a vicious circle that people think is a choice some of us make.
