Clean energy forum to take place at Bates


LEWISTON — Bates College will host a clean energy forum with the theme “Jobs and the Clean Energy Race” from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 3, in the Keck Classroom of Pettengill Hall (Pettengill G52).

The forum, organized by Focus the Nation in partnership with the Alliance for Climate Education, will provide an opportunity for learning, sharing and discussion about clean energy and green jobs in Maine and for giving young people a platform to speak with elected officials, business leaders and other community leaders.

The forum will be composed of an educational session, including interactive and engaging presentations, and a moderated panel session. There will be a short intermission between the sessions with music and refreshments.

Invited panelists include Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Susan Collins (R-Maine); representatives of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, Natural Resources Council of Maine, Climate Counts and Corinth Wood Pellets; a high school student and a college administrator.

Invited presenters for the educational session include representatives of the Sierra Club (Cool Communities), Repower Maine, the Natural Resources Council, and groups of college and high school students.
