AUBURN — Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre will present “Deathtrap,” a suspenseful mystery-thriller by Ira Levin, opening June 18.
The play revolves around the aging, brilliant playwright Sidney Bruhl who is convinced his best writing is behind him. Then along comes a promising new play written by Clifford Anderson, his former student. Sydney is convinced he must find a way to make the play his own, even if it is over young Anderson’s dead body.
“Deathtrap” is Broadway’s Tony nominated, longest-running mystery-thriller. It’s an edge-of-your-seat cat and mouse game with lots of twists and turns to keep the audience guessing until the last scene.
John Blanchette and Cheryl Reynolds portray Sidney and Myra Bruhl, with Mary Turcotte in the role of the mystic Helga Ten Dorp. Ryan Adair is the young playwright and former student. Jephthar Peters is the lawyer, Porter Milgrim. Cast members have appeared many times on-stage at CLT and other theaters.
Director Mary Meserve’s production crew includes Ellen Peters as mentor and Jackie McDonald as assistant director. Dick Rosenberg, set designer, built a model of the set, with Jonathan Carr responsible for set decor and props. Stan Spilecki has charge of the medieval weaponry used in the play.
Completing the crew are Jason Pelletier and Katie St. Pierre, co-producers; Richard Martin, light design; Louise Keezer, costumer; Rachel Morin, publicist; Vicky Machado, stage manager; Melody Driscoll, prompter; Blanchette and Gerry Therrien, set construction assisted by Phil Vampatella, Don Libby andSpilecki.
