AUBURN — The Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre will host the MEACT 2011 One Act Festival marathon on Saturday, May 14, at Great Falls Performing Arts Center.
CLT will present “GPS: An Auto-Erotic Story,” by Bruce Kane.
Out Of The Box Theatre of Lewiston will present “Chosen: Adoption Stories,” a series of original stories with an adoption theme by playwright Linda Britt. The stories are told from the viewpoint of birth parents, adoptive parents, the adopted child, siblings, grandparents and other extended family members.
Other groups participating in the Maine One Act Play Festival include Gaslight Theater of Hallowell, presenting “Mother’s Pennies,” by J. Tenney Brooks, and “All Cotton,” by Shel Silverstein.
Also, Aqua City Actors Theater of Waterville will stage “Fallout,” by S.W. Senek; “Pie and the Sky,” by Vanessa David; and “Land of the Dead,” by Neil LaBute, each no longer than 10 minutes.
And, Cauldron & Labrys Productions, aka Carolyn Gage, will present a staged reading of “Lace Curtain Irish,” by Carolyn Gage.
The festival, scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., will kick off with two workshops. Duane Glover of CLT, Monmouth Community Players and Theater at Monmouth will give a and fast-moving improv workshop from 9 to 10 a.m.
From 10 to 11 a.m., Dennis Price of Theater at Monmouth will focus on movement and body-centric exercises for actors.
There will be a short annual meeting to elect officers and schedule future festivals.
One-act presentations will begin at 1 p.m. at the arts center at 30 Academy St.
