RUMFORD — Aldo Colombini, world-renowned for his mix of magic, comedy and Italian charm, will take the stage with his wife, Rachel, at 49 Franklin on Saturday, June 4.

Colombini, who moved to the United States from Italy in 1993, is a Federation Internationale des Societes Magiques, a world-class magic competition winner, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of magic.

He speaks Italian, English, Spanish and French, and has performed and lectured in 52 countries. He has appeared on television programs worldwide and has written many books and instruction DVDs for fellow magicians.

Colombini has performed often at the Magical Empire at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and continues to appear several times a year at the famous Magic Castle in Hollywood Calif., where he is one of few magicians able to perform in all four showrooms. In the history of the Magic Castle, he is the only magician to be nominated in all six categories: comedy, stage, close-up, parlor, bar magician and lecturer.

With magic as a lifelong hobby and following her career with one of the largest corporate organizations in Britain, Rachel Colombini established a magic shop in Manchester, England, in 1993. It carried a vast array of magical apparatus, specializing in quality handcrafted wooden effects. She spent the next five years displaying and lecturing at conventions and magical societies before moving to the United States. She is also an accomplished, full-time performer in both stage and close-up magic at private and corporate events.

This past year, Rachel underwent heart surgery and although she is now recovered, the couple, married in Italy in 2006, decided to launch a farewell tour of the United States and Canada.

Their performance of comedy and magic at 49 Franklin will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for seating and a menu of pub food. The Colombinis will give a lecture for magicians at 1 p.m. If interested, contact Scot Grassette at grassette@gwi.net.

Tickets are $10 until June 3, $12 at the door. Tickets are available at www.49franklin.com, Bartash’s or All That Jazz on Congress Street.
