Comedy magicians to compete


PORTLAND – The Second Annual Comedy Magic Contest and open house will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Riverton Community Center, 1600 Forest Ave.

The competition is presented by the Society of American Magicians No. 74 Leger-de-Maine and Society of Young Magicians No. 130 Coven’s Kids.

Celebrity judges will determine who will be the Northeast’s funniest magician. Professional, semi-professional and amateur magicians will vie for the top prize of the Ralph Greenwood Acrylic Star and $100 cash. Prior to acts, the Society of Young Magicians members will be performing strolling magic – come and cheer them on!

Immediately following the contest, the Maine magicians will hold their annual Open House. The Society of Young Magicians and the Society of American Magicians meet once a month at the Cummings Community Center.

There is a suggested $5 donation at the door. All ages welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult.
