Comment period on flights extended


AUGUSTA – The Maine National Guard has extended the public comment period on its plan to lower the flight ceiling for training flights in Western Maine.

The Guard has held public meetings in Mexico, Rangeley, Moscow and Farmington running up to the July 15 public comment deadline. After meeting with Gov. John Baldacci on Thursday, Guard officials approved the governor’s request to extend the comment period on the draft environmental assessment to Aug. 15.

Copies of the assessment are available for public review and comment at the Rangeley Library, 7 Lake St., Rangeley; Rumford Library, 56 Rumford Ave., Rumford; Monson Library, Main St., Monson; and Bingham Union Library, 297 Main St., Bingham.
