In this Friday, April 27, 2012 photo, Gov. Paul LePage talks about his sense of humor while holding a poster that reads "There is a bully in Augusta pushing around seniors, children and middle class families," during an interview with the Associated Press at his office at the State House in Augusta, Maine. Critics are putting pressure on LePage to apologize for referring to the Internal Revenue Service as "the new Gestapo" during his radio address Saturday, July 7, 2012.
AUGUSTA — Internal Revenue Service workers are demanding an apology from Maine Gov. Paul LePage, who compared the federal tax collection agency to the Gestapo, reports The Portland Press Herald.
The president of IRS employees' union sent a letter dated Tuesday to the Republican governor calling the comments "scurrilous and absurd."
LePage made the comment during his weekend radio address as he assailed the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upheld the federal health care law, saying the decision gave Americans no choice but to buy health insurance or "pay the new Gestapo — the IRS."
Maine Today Media reports that Colleen Kelley of the National Treasury Employees Union also wrote that comparing the agency to the murderous Nazi secret police could "lead to violent attacks" on federal workers.
LePage has said he never intended to insult anyone.

Gestapo
We are all being held by the "new gestapo" for every little word that any one wants to deem inappropriate. Soon we will all get a new dictionary with all the words that we cannot say anymore because there is some idiot that is gonna write to the paper and say they are offended or "someone somewhere might be. Alot of politicians are gestapo and alot of lawyers are crooks. Are all the people doing time now gonna find being called a crook now is offensive? The ACLU rank right up there pretty high on the list of gestapo's and border on the criminal in some cases. I will certainly take our governor over the one in Mass. who is fighting his own legislature cause he thinks passing a law saying if you are on welfare you can't use the money for cigarettes, alcohol. etc. At least that legislature has some backbone. The governor called it "picking on the poor" DUH That is why the welfare programs are out of control and no money there for those that are through no fault of their own having to ask for help but the money is being spent other then what it was for and that hurts everyone including the ones paying.

What Gov Lepage has to say has said or probably even thinks will become more fodder for the Liberal whiners across this country.
Gov. LePage is doing the job I hoped for when I voted for him and I hope he continues along the same lines
No matter what when one speaks the truth there will be people there to cry about it.
The word gestapo has been used by many people and they like the Gov did not intend the word to even be associated with the Nazi party of WW 2 This has just been blown way out of proportion to suit the whiners. Try a Google search of the word.
Keep up the work Gov LePage full steam ahead and let em whine!
