L. Sturgis: Editorial cartoon in poor taste

I am appalled at the cartoon that you featured in the Sunday edition of the Sun Journal. The cartoonist created a picture of President Obama speaking about small business in America, utilizing the campaign theme of Mitt Romney quoting Obama out of context regarding small business.

The important framing reference of how the infrastructure around businesses, from the highways to fire and police and public education, which are taxpayer-financed, contributed to their success was not mentioned.

That goes along with the right-wing theme that Obama is not a real American; that he is, somehow, not one of us.

It is bad enough that we have to have this in overt political ads, but when it appears in a political cartoon in our local paper passing along misinformation it gives me pause.

If the shoe fits....

The use of class warfare by the current administration should be sickening to every American. The building of America was always a partnership between workers and employers; it may be rocky partnership at times but it has produced the greatest nation on the face of the earth. The purpose of United States government is to serve at the consent the governed. When the purpose of the current administration becomes to build bigger and bigger governement, to create more and more dependency...it is time for a change at the ballot box in November. I will be voting for that change!

Well Miss Sturgis

you should be appalled each and every day Obama speaks. Cause each and every day he speaks, he lies and insults every person in this country.

The left never mentions ...

... the real framing context, that businesses are themselves taxpayers and contribute to the creation and maintenance of that infrastructure. A business pays income, sales and property tax - just like any other individual.

Ms. Sturgis, the next time this paper publishes a cartoon bashing Romney out of context, will you send in another letter full of righteous indignation? I didn't think so.
