Stop the childishness

Recently, I received a correspondence from the Republican Party, smearing President Barack Obama for something that was apparently taken out of context. Such action is childish.

Instead of perpetuating hate and discontent, how about politicians working together to resolve the issues and problems that the nation currently faces? Never mind who gets credit for what. Obama did not create the problems; he inherited them.

Cooperation will go a lot further to find and implement viable solutions. Congresspeople should put party politics aside and do what is right for all Americans.

I read a bumper sticker that seems extremely appropriate: "When the power of love becomes more important than the love of power, we will have peace."

People should act accordingly.

Republicans seek to make the

Republicans seek to make the people believe what they say and disbelieve what Democrats say. Here are the many ways this is done:

1) The end justifies the means: Republicans have no moral qualms about this. Their philosophy is that the end (Republican rule) justifies the means (lying to the electorate). Democrats, on the other hand, make their bread and butter off of their honesty and character, which makes them particularly vulnerable to character assassination.

2) Unfacts: Some statements sound like facts when they're really just opinions or at best half-facts. I call them unfacts. An unfact is a statement that sounds like a fact but isn't a fact. Most people can't recognize an unfact when they hear it. A few examples would be: "There is a growing threat of terrorism", "SUVs are safer than lighter vehicles", "family values are on the decline". If challenged on these points, you can easily defend them, because they're not real facts. Simply back up the unfact with another unfact! This can go on ad infinitum. Republicans never use a fact when an unfact will do the job just as well.

Isn't it nice that the rightwing is eager to prooof the point of the letter writer.
Being the biggest bully on the block puts a target on you back. International cooperation gets the job done.
But when someone makes claims that are clearly false. You have to respond, just not in kind. Stangi doesn't know what he is talking about. Obama is a pragmatist who has continued most of Bush's policies. Bush wasn't a communist.

The power-monger Obama needs

The power-monger Obama needs to act the most accordingly of all. If he were not trying to consolidate his power over a socialistic (leading to communistic) state, maybe Republicans would not be trying so hard to oppose him.

Yup, same Ronnie who shut up

Yup, same Ronnie who shut up Momar with a couple of F-16's. And he was pretty tight lipped until just recently, that is until he knew he could walk all over you-know-who. The reason we are failing in todays wars are because we have been fighting a war to win hearts and minds. In my opinion, hearts and minds are meant to be splattered when a marine gets a clear shot. We went in weak, and we're about to get weaker.

We're off to see the wizzzard............................
It is easy to talk about the power of love when your sitting back and drinking your morning coffee, thinking about your day which may include a 9-5 job, gettng the kids to school, blah blah.
On the other side of the world, (and in our own great Country) religious zealots our planning to kill us because we are not Muslim.
From Wikipedia....
Peace through Strength" is the doctrine that military strength is a primary or necessary component of peace. It is the opposite of a policy of appeasement.

This doctrine is a major justification cited for large militaries, and also served as the primary motivation behind the Cold War doctrine of mutually assured destruction. It is the essence of Vegetius's maxim si vis pacem, para bellum (if you want peace, prepare for war).[1]

Ronald Reagan used the phrase in political spots during his election challenge against Jimmy Carter, accusing the incumbent of weak, vaciliating leadership that invited enemies to attack the US and her allies.[1] Reagan later considered it one of the mainstays of his foreign policy as United States President.[2]

Jimmy Carter, a huge fan of anybody but the Jews and the United States.

Ronnie Ray-Gun? Wasn't he

Ronnie Ray-Gun? Wasn't he the guy who snuck us outa Lebannon after 241 American Marines and Sailors were killed in Beirut back in 1983?? The French lost 58 paratroopers the same time in a parallel bombing.

Guess who immediately retaliated? It wasn't the Cheese-eater from California.... France launched an airstrike in the Beqaa Valley against alleged Islamic Revolutionary Guards positions - weeks later we lobbed a few shells into some mountains, after cancelling a joint American-French air assault on the camp where the bombing was planned.

Reagan removed the remaining Marines offshore where they could not be targetted.

Yep - peace in Lebanon and the Mideast through strength.

Yes, Reagan had the troops

Yes, Reagan had the troops turn their tails and run, but he sure made up for it in Grenada.
