C. Tobie: I am but a message

I am a gun.

I am a messenger and my messages are sent by my master.

They can be messages of hatred, of fear, of insanity, of undisciplined anger, of ego and lack of self-control, of criminal intent; they can be of love of country and freedom, of safe-guarding of life and property, of celebration of a nation's heritage.

They are not of my making.

If I am gone, I will be replaced by others, some which will be more destructive than I.

I am a messenger.

I have no soul, no will, no morals, no ethics. If my message is evil, cruel, inhuman, blame my master and those people and circumstances that have influenced him, or her.

Charles Tobie, Hebron

Reminded me of this

This letter reminded me of this Calvin and Hobbes:

ANTHONY NAZAR's picture

I am a stinger (or an M60 or a bazooka)

I am a stinger missile.

Think, think, think before parroting the dreck that spews from Mr. LaPierre's mouth.

LaPierre

In less than one week after the theater shootings in Colorado, the NRA sent out a letter soliciting donations based on the irrational fear that 100 round magazines and semiautomatic assault rifles would be outlawed. I guess if you live in complete fear of the conquering commie hordes, or you believe too many movies, the ability to get off 50 or 60 rounds in a minute will allow you to clutch your pearls just a little less tightly.

The NRA is gearing up to

The NRA is gearing up to fight the on slot of new gun regulations. I read that California just a few days ago introduced legislation to ban all semi-automatic center-fire weapons. Perhaps the NRA is on to something and understands politicians.

How did you write this letter?

That said, guns are a tool. But just like a car or a hammer or an x-ray machine, there are laws about owning and operating them. Just like when the dangers of the Shoe-fitting fluoroscope were discovered, they were prohibited. It's a tool, but it wasn't safe. Just like when the government made car manufacturers put limiters on cars.

So I don't blame guns. But I also think we need to make them safer with more regulations, especially for weapons with removable magazines. If you can limit a shooter to 10 rounds before either switching weapons or a lengthy reloading process, it might be worth the regulations.

1. Name on regulation

1. Name on regulation regulating the ownership and use of a hammer?
2. A number of states have magazine limits and regulations on magazine release. Takes all of 5 minutes to deactivate time. Simply a waste of time.
