PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — President Barack Obama's re-election campaign is far outpacing Republican challenger Mitt Romney's in fundraising in Maine.
The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/RN5czW ) says Obama raised nearly $5 in Maine for every dollar Romney collected within the state last month. The gap is far wider gap than what occurred nationally.
The newspaper's analysis of Federal Elections Commission finance reports shows Maine residents donated roughly $277,600 to Obama's campaign in August, compared to $57,300 to Romney's campaign.
Nationally, the president raised $84.7 million in August and still had $88.8 million left to spend. Romney received $66.6 million in donations, not including a $20 million loan, and had roughly $50.4 million remaining as of the end of August.,
