F. Whittier: Earned freedom of speech

Lewiston's Mayor Bob Macdonald may have made an off-the-wall comment but he still has the freedom of speech.

Actually I think he is right. Here in Maine, the immigrants get all they want and more. The elderly should fare as well.

By the way, are all those Somalis U.S. citizens? If not, then they do not have a thing to complain about. Try getting into Mexico and get the free goodies. Down there, they would get jail.

I am 75 years old and I have worked since I was 13. I served in the military. I have earned my right to freedom of speech.

I hope all those people who are crying foul can read, and I hope they read this.
