LEWISTON — A local man was arrested in Turner on Tuesday and charged with firing a gun at River Valley Village apartments Friday.
Police and federal agents arrested Tyone Jones, 27, originally of Brooklyn, N.Y., and charged him with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Investigators said more arrests may be forthcoming.
The late-afternoon shooting rattled nerves at the apartment complex formerly known as Tall Pines. No one was hurt, but witnesses said it appeared bullets hit the side of an apartment building and struck a nearby trash bin.
The motive for the shooting was still being investigated. Lewiston police were joined by agents from the Central Maine Violent Crimes Task Force as the search for suspects got under way.
Police on Friday night said they had solid information about the person who fired the shots, but the suspect remained at large over the weekend.
On Tuesday, police said further leads led officers and agents to Turner where they found and arrested Jones without incident.
He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail where he was being booked late Tuesday afternoon.
