B. Bryant: Keeping jobs in Maine

President Barack Obama and his administration are the first of either party to self-initiate a trade case against China and its lawless trade policies. That is the real deal. That is the only way to keep good American manufacturing jobs in the U.S.A.

Self-initiating a trade case allows people to keep their jobs and not wait until the jobs have been lost before starting the fight to keep them.

Make no mistake, this country is in a war to keep good-paying manufacturing jobs here.

The Obama administration has been busy pushing the World Trade Organization to hold China accountable for violating trade laws on auto manufacturing, while Mitt Romney has been making millions  selling U.S. jobs overseas.

Obama’s work has resulted in real job opportunities for people here in the River Valley Area where, only a few years ago, mills were laying off hundreds of workers in Rumford and Jay. Now they are hiring 15 to 20, all due to the trade case against China on coated free sheet paper that the administration pushed.

I believe one of the most critical questions that Americans need to ask is, who stands to make millions, maybe billions, of dollars on shipping jobs overseas? Obama or Romney?

Obama

I believe the question is are you better off than you were four years ago ? We have had four years of this administrations policy's you can believe hell keep his promises in the second term. You can believe he will be smarter in his second term . You can believe he will fight against China his bank account ! Or you can look at his record of the last Four Years Hope and Change Lets all hope for the sake of our nation we get some real change not just more rhetoric and broken promises ! We cant stand four more years of speeches while America Dies ! Obama is a job killer here in the River valley and everywhere in America and that is the fact !!! Look at the last four years not just four minutes of an election campaign ! Obama has investments in China as well Obama holds shares in mutual funds that invest in Apple, Wal-Mart and other U.S. firms with operations in China. American jobs have been shifting to low-wage countries for years, and the trend has continued during Obama’s presidency. From 2008 to 2010, U.S. trade with China alone cost about 450,000 jobs !!!!! Obama promised to “end those tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas.” another promise broken !! Obama an empty suit he talks the talk but cant walk the walk !!!

Americans themselves play a

Americans themselves play a big role in America’s recovery. That is, Americans need to stop looking to government to provide cradle to grave services. These services cost money, which has to come from somewhere; hence, a noncompetitive tax structure on business, not to mention noncompetitive regulations.

American should focus on what it can control to create jobs here at home, not punch at a hanging straw man called China.

Laying off hundreds to hiring

Laying off hundreds to hiring 15-20. Does not sound like any big turnaround to me.

Perhaps a new president can do better.
