D. Hoeh: Moving the country forward

On President Obama’s watch the nation has seen the end of the war in Iraq; decimation of al Qaeda; new post-crash regulation of Wall Street; bailout of the auto industry; stimulus funds toward infrastructure and clean energy; new, stronger fuel-emission standards; decreased dependence on foreign oil; immigration reform beginnings; passage of Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act; Affordable Health Care Act; lower unemployment numbers; support for veterans and their families; and support for women’s health care.

The Romney/Ryan ticket promises to overturn Roe v. Wade; defund Planned Parenthood; repeal Affordable Health Care; make Medicare a voucher system; and retain tax cuts for the very wealthy. Romney hasn’t supported equal pay for women. Arithmetic on his deficit reduction plan doesn’t add up. Trickle-down economics didn’t work for Ronald Reagan, and it won’t work now. Voters should think carefully about that reactionary agenda.

The nation can move forward with Obama/Biden in 2012.

I guess we have to schedule the defense of America...

during the times we have a budget surplus.

Not ignoring anything, just remembering what happened in the country on 9-11, Army doctrine says to engage the enemy forward and that's just want we did; bi-partisan by the way.

I still have my flag flying in my yard long after it seems to have faded from vogue.

The Constitution has provisions for national defense, not the breathtaking spending on bailing out private enterprise and rewarding political contributors.

We spend way too much on things we don't NEED, but WANT or for politicians to look good back in their home district. Paying for it with borrowed money.

We need to spend less and spend it on NEEDS not WANTS...it's just that simple, I do it at home...and expect my government to do the same; is that unreasonable?

The left is salivating on trying to end the Bush tax cuts and get their hot little hands on all that money instead of concetrating on the elimination of waste and fraud to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars and prioritizing our NEEDS!

Simple Economics 101. I wonder if anyone in current administration took that course and stayed awake!

I've had enough, I think America has too. Get prepared for 2010 on steroids!

Yes...to the tune of 24 TRILLION in debt...

we just cannot afford the current administration for another four years. PERIOD! Vote for conservative candidates who will cut the credit card in half and increase job creation to pay down our future debt; this one is definately "FOR THE CHILDREN."

Why will this Republican be different from the last Republican??

As you recall, when George Bush was President neither war in Iraq nor Afghanistan were included within the defense budget. They were merely charged as 'Supplementals' and added to the Credit Card.

Then there was the 'Temporary Tax Cut' which your party refuses to end.

Add to that, Grover Norquist's Pledge which all 'Good' Republicans sign - to 'Never Raise Taxes' (even after they've been lowered)

Are you ignoring these conditions on purpose, Col, or are you simply that uninformed??

I refer you to: Downturn and Legacy of Bush Policies Drive Large Current Deficits

Tax Cuts, War Costs Do Lasting Harm to Budget Outlook

Romney wants to spend more and more money on the Military. Where's it coming from?? He refuses to raise taxes, and he hasn't been forthcoming as to any new jobs he will actually create in the United States rather than overseas.

This is what we are faced with by the refusal of Republicans to pay for their wars and to end 'Temporary' tax cuts.

What we are experiencing now is your Republican War and your Republican Tax Cuts. We need these to go away, along with a Republican House and the Republicans in the Senate. It's time to pay your taxes.

It may be the "republican

It may be the "republican war" now, but Bush did not go into Iraq without both democrat and republican support. Since you probably already know it, I won't bore you with the list of names of the democrats who signed on.
Is it Bush's fault that the 9/11 attack and Hurricane Katrina were not budgeted?

RONALD RIML's picture

Yet he did not go in with Republican tax increases

I'll be glad to when next

I'll be glad to when next Wednesday gets here. I'm tired if the same old partisans parade of unsubstantiated claims.
