In the wake of President Obama’s re-election, pundits have suggested how the Republican Party can survive as a viable political entity. Pundits urge Republicans to develop a meaningful outreach to women, gays and lesbians, African-Americans and Latinos. They claim that Democrats attract the votes of these groups in the absence of any real Republican appeals to their interests.
Set aside how anyone can seriously think that the party of free stuff and federally subsidized self-indulgence would ever allow Republicans to successfully poach in their carefully cultivated preserve. Consider what accepting the pundits’ suggestion would mean for America politically: no longer would America cultivate citizens proud of their heritage, concerned for her strength and mindful of her destiny. Both parties would shamelessly cater to competing groups, bargaining with their would-be overlords for group benefit increases, status enhancements or revenge on competitors.
America would resemble a patchwork Third World country, hastily stitched together in the twilight of colonial occupation.
Democrats have reached the heady overreach stage of their existence. In pressing their ideology to illogical extremes, they will likely make quick work of what is left of America's political system and the once-strong economy. There is no stopping them now.
So, congressional Republicans should simply vote “present” on all Democratic proposals. Any more extensive Republican involvement leaves their fingerprints at the crime scene and provides Democrats with grounds for scapegoating them in the end.
Instead, Republicans should ready themselves for rebuilding America from the wreckage Democrats will make of her.
Leonard Hoy, Greenwood
While this is an interesting
While this is an interesting thought, it is predicated on the following:
1. The democrats cause complete destruction and people want to rebuild in the correct manner.
2. There will be something left to build on once the destruction has taken place.
A more likely scenario is that the non-producers will turn the producers into milking cows and keep harvesting our earnings. The producers are genetically predisposed to keep forging forward (not to be confused with Obama’s version of forward) regardless of the obstacles. The democrats will attempt to manipulate that trait.
My suggestion is for the producers to move to an all cash economy in order to shield our economic activity from the harvesters – government and the non-producers.
Do I hear yea?

Absolutely brilliant, Leonard. Have the repubs vote "present" as a body on every matter and let the dems have their way on everything they want, at which point they will own ALL of it; every last stinking piece of it. No more blaming Bush, no more blaming the obstructionist republicans. Problem? The rebulicans lack the testicular fortitude to do it. It would almost be worthwhile just to see the fingers of blame all point in only one direction when the economy collapses under complete democrat control.

Would you like to respond? Login or create a new account. You'll need to verify your account before you can respond. The attitude in this letter is precisely why Romney lost.
"party of free stuff and federally subsidized self-indulgence" - meaning democrats. This is the lie Romney told in so many ways during the campaign. Its the lie that will make the Republican Party a minority party for generations because it shows their contempt for the American people, their disconnect to their day-to-day lives, and their "alternative planet" worldview that does not recognize fact for fact.
Recently, Georgia legislators attended an official briefing by a birther of Agenda 21 in which he stated that the UN had cooked up this Agenda to steal our property rights using mind control techniques (consensus building) to turn our local planning boards into outposts for socialist aggression. Keep it up folks. The black helicopters are being camoflaged as Santa's sled and Reindeer for the Christmas takeover. Keeping spreading the word.
Then the Republican Party can go the way of the Federalists and Whigs who preceeded them.

It would have been more like," the majority has spoken, now lets all hope for the best". Perhaps after two years I'd start Romney bashing the way you guys bash Obama, but at least I'd give him the benefit of a doubt.

Spoken like a man of honor. But, many of your political persuasion have forgotten that the last 4 years (and the next 4) of obama bashing have been the aftermath of 8 years of Bush bashing, at times quite nasty, from the left. How's that go? "What goes around comes around." The question is where in when will it end?

Exactly. What the parrot wants to know is, if every man's name is John, how do the girls tell them apart?
My brothel analogy was merely an expression of my frustration towards the level of quality of the candidates we get in presidential elections.
"Of course, you don't find virtue in a cat house", said the all-knowing parrot. "You catch crabs."

I know human behavior. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs dictate the individuals look out for themselves. Consider the biological drivers behind Maslow’s theory.
Even those who claim they are for the poor are really masquerading behind their own self-interests.
Ronald looks after himself. For example, perhaps you hate the rich because your ego is bursed; you failed in that area. The only way for you to win, is to tear down your opponent; we know you cannot rise to their level, so what else can you do? This behavior is also seen in how you frequently launch personal attacks to those how disagree with you. The personal attack is the only arrow left in your quiver.
You know I’m right.
