T. Shields: Post-election questions

In Maine: Will the Democrats’ majority cancel the Republican tax reductions, increase welfare benefits, and legislate to discourage job creation? If they do, and the governor’s veto of those measures is not sustained, will we see additional taxes? Will the teachers' union overwhelm the charter school laws? Will the Democrats not hold sections of government accountable nor fund the state retirement accounts, as in the past?

Nationally: Will President Obama realize his duty to protect this country and stand up for it instead of pussy-footing with enemies who would delight in overwhelming the U.S., its legal system and freedom of religion? Will Obama support the attempted erosion of freedom of speech?

Will “Obamacare” be extraordinarily costly (needing tax increases) with non-medical bureaucrat controls, but continuing the exceptions for compliance granted to unions and other Obama favorites?

Will Obama’s non-transparent administration continue to hide its errors? Will the National Labor Relations Board continue to regulate to defeat right-to-work rules and give unions more power?

What is the possibility of more Supreme Court appointments similar to the two blatant liberals Obama has already appointed? Is the U.S. Constitution in danger?

Can the illegal immigrant problem be solved through a bipartisan plan to, first, and very importantly, secure the borders, then process illegals toward citizenship if they learn English, work and pay taxes? Does that make sense? Will Obama continue to prosecute border state officials for enforcing the federal immigration laws? Does that make sense?

as far as what you did or did not do in Vietnam. Does not impress me at all. Most veterans that I know do not have to tell anyone about their record of Service.I Certainly hope I made you Day.

You would be right at Home in Stalinst Russia as an Useful Idiot nd Take Ronald Rimi with you.

Perhaps you cn sing us a Song or Two?

post election

it certainly does seem the the New [Usefull Idiots} come in the form of Al Pelletier & Ronald Rimi

One thing that I have found to be consistent year after year is that Tom Shield is True to his Beliefs . Unlike Al [Lesson's learned] or not learned and [Mr Rimi] who seem adept at Spouting off about nothing and he almost supplys his own Replys'

Yes Al and Tony and Ronald you are all part of the [New Confederacy of Dunces] who have formed.

Here is an idea Ronald and Al and Tony why don't you all say something that has Substance?

Let's face this Fact that inspite of being able to Trick most Voters into giving your President Four More years.

The Mask will fall off Sooner than later,Secondly when speaking of Military Matters an Area which 'Al Pelletier' is a Self professed Veteran of such Theatres. It will be Great Sport to see this Administratation try to Wriggle and Worm themselves out of the Bengzey Question

Of what did you know and when did you know it? In today's issue of the Demoine Registar there are similar Questions, and the Chicago tribune as well so these Amatuers will not get away from this Cloud of Suspicion.

Now to all a great Thanksgiving and to the folks In Isreal

I'm OK with how your Dealing with the Hmas Scum

Perhaps we should call the

Perhaps we should call the trio Moe, Larry, and Curly – yuk-yuk.

AL PELLETIER's picture

Who lit a fire under your a--?

The only offense I take from your twisted comments is the "Self professed Veteran of such Theaters" remark. My DD-214 will reveal I spent 2 1/2 years in combat waters of Vietnam in 66-67-68. Hardly self professed.
Oh speaking of [ Useful Idiots ] turn on your spell check!

AL PELLETIER's picture

OOPS!

Another sore looser.

Obama is not Impressed, Mr Shields

Keep asking the questions Tom, some one has to do it.

We have a media asleep at the switch or slow to understand the importance of local, state and world events.

- Labor unions celebrating the demise of an 80 plus year old American
company; applauded by the left.

- Continued strife in the middle east; which will affect the pocketbook of
every Amercan; with higher energy costs; weren't they supposed to love
us now?

- The Democrats taking a hard line to raise taxes to pay for more and more
handouts; rallying around a self-proclaimed mandate. Putting the
retirement income generating investments of millions of Americans in peril.

- Trillions more in debt and credit.

The current administration in Washington doesn't need to have folks on the payroll to spin world events, they have a media cheerleading section. It amazes me how the media doesn't even wait until the administration spins it they come up with the excuses themselves.

The best thing that four more years will do for us is to make the "Blame Bush" defense ring more and more hollow in the ears of more and more voters.

You keep it up Tom always good to hear a man of reason reflect on what is happening in America today.

AL PELLETIER's picture

OMG!

Four more years of Mr. Shield's monthly letters to the editor. Another sore loser.

 's picture

Noooooooooo

oooooooooooooooooooooo!

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

You don't really believe that

You don't really believe that those who were anti-obama in the last four years are now going to be supportive of him and his policies simply because he's been re-elected, do you, Al?

AL PELLETIER's picture

C'mon Paul

You know as well as I do that if Romney had won, but he was a democrat, Mr. Shields would still be spouting the same bulls---. At least you've stated, and rightfully so, that you chose the lesser of the two evils. This is a perfectly respectable position to take. Mr. Shields, on the other hand, could never make his choice based on the lesser of the two evils because he's to one party minded.

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

Agreed. However, you and I

Agreed. However, you and I both know that there are voters on both sides who would vote for Lucifer, himself, as long as his tail was tucked in and he had the appropriate "D" or "R" tattooed on his forehead. That's the way it is. Dr. Shields just happens to favor elephants over donkeys.
How'd you like that Pats game? I'd say Brady did a great job of clarifying the distinction between talented rookie and a living legend. They've lost Gronkowski to a busted forearm for 4-6 weeks though. But, just in time for Hernandez to come back.

AL PELLETIER's picture

Gronkowski

I was unaware he had broken his arm til this morning. A set back for the Pats but Hernandez ain't no slouch either. ( different game) Tebow must feel like he's playing second fiddle to Sanchez. Maybe the Ponies should bring him on board to replace Luck, then maybe they'd have a prayer.----get it?

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

Yes; Divine intervention

Yes; Divine intervention instead of just plain Luck.
I feel bad for Tebow. You can see the frustration and disappointment in his eyes when the camera pans him. He'll find his niche somewhere and do well. The man is build like a fullback. Why not use him as one? For starters, though, he may wish to consider changing business managers.

Keep writing, Tom.

The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner. This paper is overwhelmed with those.

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

Whatever happened to winning

Whatever happened to winning gracefully? Is it possible that winning simply doesn't make winners out of losers?

RONALD RIML's picture

Will Thomas Shields start asking objective questions

Rather than ones based upon political propaganda and untruths?

It does make a difference.

MARK GRAVEL's picture

Ronald, Why not present your

Ronald,

Why not present your list of “objective” questions for the readers. Put your chips on table or fold.

RONALD RIML's picture

You haven't discerned my objective concerns?

Yet.....

How odd.

MARK GRAVEL's picture

I expect Obama to elevate

I expect Obama to elevate class warfare to new levels, increase the national debt, and keep blaming Republicans for his failures.

RONALD RIML's picture

How do you define

Class Warfare?

MARK GRAVEL's picture

The conflict between social

The conflict between social or economic classes.

The need to redistribute income from those with more of it to those with less of it is an example.

In my opinion, the Obama administration fuels class envy for political means - to divide the electorate.

I see the relationship between Obama and Jeffery Emmelt a bigger problem than someone who earns their income through corporate management. You do know Jeffery Emmelt is manipulating your savior, right?

Someone earning $200k in New York City is probably not much better off financially than someone making $50-60K a year in Maine.

Anyhow, the government and the people always lose the class warfare battle. Enjoy higher prices.

RONALD RIML's picture

Def: The conflict between social or economic classes.

Provide some other examples:

MARK GRAVEL's picture

Just look to Washington DC

Just look to Washington DC for a contemporary example. Those in the income range that BO says are wealthy ($200K and up) already pay far more federal taxes in terms of marginal tax rate and absolute dollars than those below the income range.

That said, BO has target these people, vilified these people, and using SJ opinions as a barometer turn other Americans against these people. A sad state of affairs in my opinion.

Now before you respond and say taxes used to be higher on this group, yes, but we used to allow slave ownership. The fact that something happened in the past does not make it right.

RONALD RIML's picture

Where have you gleaned your concept of 'Class Warfare' from??

Wife has me doing some jobs - so take your time.....

MARK GRAVEL's picture

Let me make it simple, when

Let me make it simple, when I’m a target of my hard work. That brings it home. It becomes personal. I need to go shopping, so this will be my last response on this topic.

RONALD RIML's picture

You love 'Simple' - and the Republicans Love you for it.

Mark - You're always waving the spectre of 'Class Warfare' here, and I expected you to have the common decency to adequately explain it what threat this is.

Is it some real, tangible conflict we should be afraid of? Or the warnings of 'Chicken Little' to sow suspicion, distrust, and hatred?

You never provided anything tangible, except for your reluctance to part with money.

I asked where your ideas came from - no answer. No readings, no research, no sources. No opposing viewpoints. Simply an excuse to shield your wallet.

C'mon - if you're going to fall back on an ideology which involves a theory you espouse - write as though you're familiar with it.

The burden to adequately define it lies with you. 'Chirp-Chirp' sum it up???

Good game Ron

Now holler CHECKMATE !!!!

MARK GRAVEL's picture

I was out stimulating the

I was out stimulating the economy. Perhaps a thank you for keeping cash flowing into local business is in order.

I was silent on the issue until my government shot the first round – “you did not build that”, “you don’t pay your fair share”. A big F-bomb to that tone.

My ideas are my own. As an individual living in presumably a free society, it is none of anyone’s business how I dispose of my money. The left dogs republicans for sticking their noses in people’s bedrooms, well that is no different than sticking your nose in my wallet.

This whole concept of equity is ideological so get of your soapbox.

By the way, I would think that someone your age has learned to be a little more patience. Show a little patience my friend.

Over the next four years, class warfare will be fought in Washington – thank god for a house majority and the filibuster.

RONALD RIML's picture

Guys down in Kennebunk were stimulating the economy also....

Did they Build that??

Tell us again what you 'Built?'
