BOWDOIN — A 25-year-old Lisbon motorcyclist has died as a result of a collision with a motor vehicle on Route 125 in Bowdoin on Monday night, according to police.
Wade Foster, 35, of Lewiston, turned his 1995 Chrysler Concord left in front of a motorcycle driven by Richard Paraskevakos, 25, of Lisbon, at approximately 6:45 p.m., according to a release from the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Department.
Paraskevakos was flown to Central Maine Medical Center by helicopter, but was later pronounced dead.
Foster was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, police said. According to a spokesman at the jail, Wade was booked and immediately bailed on $2,500 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Sixth District Court in West Bath on Dec. 15 at 1 p.m.
According to the Bureau of Motor Vehicle records, Foster is a habitual offender with a previous OUI conviction in 1999. His license was suspended for three months at the time, and he has since been convicted of operating after suspension and has been subject to several administrative suspension orders revoking his license between 2001 and 2007. His last conviction, in 2007, was for failure to display a valid registration plate.
Foster has no previous record of being involved in an accident.
Monday's crash is being reconstructed by the Brunswick Police Department and investigated by the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Department.
