Police searching for missing Lewiston man

LEWISTON — Police are searching for a Lewiston man, whose car was found abandoned on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge between Lewiston and Auburn over the weekend.

WMTW-TV is reporting that Daniel Dougherty, 46, has been missing since Friday.

According to the report, Lewiston police said Doughty, of Knox Street, seemed depressed when he spoke to a friend at 11 p.m. Friday. His wallet and identification were located in the car, and a jacket was found nearby in the woods.

A plane from the Maine Warden Service joined police in searching for Doughty near the Androscoggin River.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Lewiston Detective Wayne Clifford at 513-3001, ext. 3320.
