Gov. Paul LePage vows to be more like an embattled Wisconsin governor while blaming union bosses for woes in the Maine education system.

These assertions and more surfaced Thursday after a Maine political writer claimed to have received a tape of LePage's speech to the Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce the night before.

According to a blog posted by reporter Mike Tipping, LePage didn't know he was being recorded while delivering the speech. In fact, the governor had asked that recording devices be banned.

"Thanks to an anonymous source," Tipping wrote in the Bangor Daily News blog The Tipping Point, "I have a recording of LePage’s speech, which includes a number of statements that should raise questions and/or eyebrows."

Tipping doesn't waste words from there. The reporter says that in addition to several jaw-dropping comments, LePage committed during the speech, to run for re-election.

"First up is this remark about next year’s gubernatorial election," Tipping writes. "Not only does LePage commit to running again (a statement he has avoided making so far) but he promises that he will 'be the next Scott Walker,' a reference to the divisive Wisconsin governor who survived a high-profile recall election last year after he attempted to strip union bargaining rights from public employees."

Tipping includes a link where visitors can listen to the audio in question. He also includes text of some of LePage's remarks.

“I will guarantee you that you will see the most vicious education campaign ads that you’ve ever seen in your life next year," LePage is quoted as saying, "because I am going to be the next Scott Walker in this country, because I am challenging the status quo."

According to Tipping, LePage says that the ads will come from “out-of-state union bosses” the governor claims are the cause of problems in Maine’s education system.

Tipping says he was told by Skowhegan Chamber Executive Director Cory King that no media were at the event and LePage’s staff asked the organizers to prohibit any recording devices from being used.

He did not say who provided the audio from the event.

In his blog, Tipping suggests he has "a week's worth of blog posts" from the recording, "but I'll try not to drag it out for that long."

According to his online biography, "Tipping writes about Maine politics and policy with a focus on analysis and explanation. He works at the Maine People’s Alliance and Maine People’s Resource Center, writes a political column for the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel."

Very interesting............

Has anyone verified the information supplied by Mike Tipping? Don't get me wrong, as much as I would love this to be true. This story just sounds to similar to the Mitt Romney's secret tape recording story.
If a Governor in as much trouble as he's in right now, makes statements that are as outlandish as these, than something is seriously wrong in this guy's head. What kind of message is sent when requesting no recording devises in the room. That's the request of a guilty man. Or at the very least, an incredibly paranoid person. While LePage is playing these games in private, we're supposed to assume we have a stable professional governor in the State House?
I don't do the "Blog" thing, so maybe someone could supply me with a link to Lepage's secret recording??????????????????

I'm not convinced........

I listened to the short recording numerous times. It's what I don't hear in the short comment that bothers me. There is no background noise, there are no sounds at all, it just sounds like someone talking into a tape recorder. If this was recorded at a meeting or from a speech in fount of any size crowd, there would be sounds like clearing of throats, mumbling, furniture creaking. The voice sounds like it is directed right into the microphone, not recorded from any distance. If in fact this was a secret recording, it was done right in his face. There is no echo type from the room.
Unfortunately, without video of the same speech, I can't believe it was much more than someone imitating his voice, talking into a tape recorder. If it were a true secret recording there would have been background noise.

The pot and the kettle

Apparently it is just awful if the teacher's union draws support from the national organization but it's OK for the governor to mimic Scott Walker and to get his support and instructions from the Koch brothers. Are we supposed to believe these guys care a whit about the welfare of Maine citizens? Hypocrisy thy name is Lepage.

The probable cause of ME's educational system woes is ignorance , Hon Gov. It's a thankless job , being a teacher . \/olunteer for a day or twelve some month . Hug a child , Mr. Bully . Also , try volunteering at the local EMS - EMT, fire & police stations ( mostly unionized also ) , your hospital of choice , and the local food bank - homeless shelter you heartless , helpless , and seemingly hopeless hypocrite
We are solving our teacher contractual problems through dialog right now here in Hawai'i - right now - and not brow beating
Cluelessness and ignor-ance is not bliss

Yepper like Walker the scumbagger

Not only does LePage commit to running again (a statement he has avoided making so far) but he promises that he will be “the next Scott Walker,” a reference to the divisive Wisconsin governor who survived a high-profile recall election last year after he attempted to strip union bargaining rights from public employees.

Walker is selling off the states assets to the Kochs and other Repub investors....

Follow the money folks....LePage is just as dirty as Walker and plans on stealing and sharing the monies of the states...

Follow the Money

In his speech, LePage says the division over his policies will only get worse in “the next week or so,” as his administration releases letter grades for their set of performance measures for all Maine schools.

“If you think I’ve caused trouble lately, you wait in the next couple weeks when the grades on all the schools come out,” said LePage.

Again his focus is Charter schools...

Now do the research and you will find that those Charter schools are owned by Repub investors....
