Rail line to be rebuilt in Auburn

City officials gather at the Maine Intermodal Facility in Auburn on Wednesday to break ground on the $3 million reconstruction of the former Rangeley Branch rail line, right. The reconstructed rail bed will provide access to about 400 acres in Auburn and Poland and open economic development opportunities.

Heavy-duty machinery is being used in the Rangeley Branch rail line restoration project near the Maine Intermodal Facility in Auburn. The reconstruction of the railway will allow easier movement of freight through the facility.
