Maine man killed in ATV accident

NEW PORTLAND (AP) — Officials say a 29-year-old western Maine man has died in an all-terrain vehicle crash.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Department says Raymond Gerrish took a neighbor's ATV without permission and later lost control and struck a tree while traveling at a high rate of speed in New Portland early Tuesday morning.

Officials say Gerrish wasn't wearing a helmet.
