Auburn man charged with selling pot brownie to teenage girl

AUBURN — An Auburn man was arrested Friday, charged with selling a pot-laced brownie to a 16-year-old girl.

Isaiah Pendexter, 19, of 80 Foster Road, was jailed Friday afternoon after police charged him with aggravated trafficking in marijuana. Police said Pendexter sold the brownie to the girl, who then shared it with another girl Friday morning at a school bus stop.

The second girl, 17 years old, became sick shortly after arriving at Edward Little High School, police said. She was examined by a school nurse who sent her to a hospital and notified police. The 17-year-old was treated and later released.

Auburn's School Resource Officer Shawn Carll investigated and was able to trace the brownie back to Pendexter, police said. Investigators believe Pendexter made the brownie. Carll said he was able to confirm later in the day that no additional pot brownies had been brought into school.

Pendexter, a former Edward Little High School honors student, was booked at the Androscoggin County Jail and later released on $500 bail.

Selling Pot

Reading this story makes me heartsick but reading the response about "what are they teaching at EL is disgusting more than heartsick. My son and 2 grandaughters graduated from EL and are doing great and a credit to EL and so can anyone that goes there. If you choose to make nothing of your life you can learn that anywhere. The fact that he was an honor student is pathetic to say the least but isn't anyone honor student or not smart enough not to buy a brownie or anything else from someone just standing at a bus stop? Maybe those girls should have had breakfast before they left home. I think those girls need to be taught a good lesson as well as punishment for the boy and hopefully ones they will remember. Recently we had a rash of home burglaries in which I have been led to believe the guilty ones have been caught but the fact that the punishment does not fit the crimes does not lead to determent. If you have never had someone come into your home and go through your things even though taking nothing trust me you feel totally violated. It was done in broad daylight which leads you to think that they weren't scared of being caught, they don't attend school nor do they work so guess they didn't learn that at EL and when you read about these kids being picked up and released in their parents custody I ask "isn't that where they were when they committed the crimes?"

I'm sure that EL is not

I'm sure that EL is not teaching how to cook pot laced brownies in home economics. Moreover, I'm sure all parties were aware of the Brownie's ingredients.

Given the war on drugs is a complete and utter failure, I wonder why we keep dumping good money after bad. In my opinion, the war on drugs, which is a victimless crime, has done loads to increase violence, seen both with traffickers and militarized policing.

The is a Very Bad Problem with Marijuana in the Lewiston/Auburn Area. Take a Ride any night in a Local Cab and you'll run into more Stoned People than non-stoned.

Pot is essentially harmless

Please educate yourself Randall Pond.

Not essentially harmless.

Eric maybe you should educate yourself. A recent study, shows that smoking one joint a day, does as much damage to the body as a pack of cigarets a day.

In this case it was a brownie. Again, please educate yourself Wendi Ward.
