J. Harwood Jr.: Vote them out

The present U.S. Congress is the worst one this nation has had in a long time. But if voters in the U.S.A. continue to re-elect some or most of them, there is no one to blame but voters themselves.

We need to get the do-nothings out of office.

James Harwood Jr., Lewiston

Careful what you wish for.

Careful what you wish for. Voting out the bums doesn't mean the bums who replace them won't be worse. In fact, often, it is the case that the replacements will be even more venal and self involved and full of self righteous and misguided fervor. In fact it is a similar "get out the bums" fervor that landed us where we are now.

Do nothing government

Well the Senate has already begun with back to back blocking of new nominees. And this time with the help of our own Susan Collins. All of it is partisan and only results in government dysfunction. Oh wait, that is what they want. Then they can complain that government doesn't work. You want do-nothing government then keep voting in the party of "NO". The party that complains about and undermines and obstructs everything then has no solutions to anything other than spreading pain to everybody else and filling their own pockets.

What who wants?

When a R senator blocks a nominee it's obstruction and dysfunction. When a D does it, it's statesmanship and saving the Republic.

hypocrisy: the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.

Statesmanship

And when the same party blocks all the nominees all the time it is anything but statesmanship it is pure partisan obstruction and nothing more

Claire, they won't listen

Their deniers - climate, politics, if its snowing, they will call it dandruff. If its good for them, its good and true. If its good for you, its wasted money, bad, evil, etc.
If we want anything done to fix this country's very manageable problems, the solution is simple. Never vote for a Republican, their fix makes everything much worse.

Look at the gop created house calendar. They are scheduled work almost 2 days a week on average next year.

As long as half the voters

As long as half the voters continue to support the democrat left wing agenda, what you want probably won't happen, Mr. Harwood. They had the chance to oust after his first term and didn't. We are getting, at least half of us, exactly what governance we deserve.

He who lives in a glass cage lives in a prism of distortion which accounts for his being a liberal.
