Teach against hate

I believe that the right for gays to marry each other should not be an issue for any public law to decide. It is a personal one, not a political one; not a law to be voted upon in an election.

As for fearing that children will be taught to be gay in school if the law isn't repealed is ludicrous.

By repealing a law that allows people who love each other to marry is allowing hate to enter into the lawmaking process. What would that teach our children? Are we afraid that what we teach them at home (to be honest, caring and thoughtful beings) is not powerful enough for them to learn about other beliefs?

I don't think the school officials are going to convince students to be gay, or teach them to hate gays. I would hope the lesson would be tolerance, not hate.

School administrators would not accept teachers who wanted to promote a personal agenda. If they did practice one, they would be fired. Teaching is not about trying to put children into little boxes, all believing the same idea. It is about allowing their minds to be opened and to grow in a positive way. It is the duty of a teacher to protect children from abuse and persecution.

Bullying is alive and well in our society and that is hateful. That is what people need to fight against. Hate must be taught, and repealing the Marriage Equity Act is teaching hate.

Arse69,
"Its seems to me that the more educated people get, the less common sense they have." What you call common sense is ignorance not sense. But that's a wonderful summary of America's anti-intellectualism. Couple books on that you might want to read. Oops! books, read just forgot myself.

I would agree that hate is

I would agree that hate is wrong, thats why I believe you should hate the sin, not the sinners.
Jesus loved sinners, he just told them to sin no more. I know this drives gay people mad, but a gay lifesystle is a sinful lifesystle. For the clergy who are teaching its just a alternative lifesystle. The Bible warns about false teachers and prophets like them. If you don't believe me , just try reading the word. For those of you who don't believe in the word of God, your all entitled to your freedom of choice.

Watched the videos, and tell me gil, how many people on "the other side" were hurt? ZERO! How many are in the hospital? ZERO! How many had their very existence threatened because they're breeders? ZERO! All I saw were people exercising their First Amendment right to protest, or is that just reserved for extreme right wing wackos, teabaggers and homophobes?

jojo, do you even think

jojo, do you even think about what you are saying? Schools "teach" homosexuality? What are you talking about? Schools teach the reality of the world. Gay marriage, homosexuality...these are realities. You want your bigoted view of the world taught. That is not education. That is promoting ignorance and lies. You can believe that the world is flat or was created in 6 days, but I will not teach your ignorance, and definitely NOT your bigotry.

jojolou, So!. Mass laws are

jojolou,
So!. Mass laws are not Maine laws. Whether LD 1020 goes into effect or not. Maine schools can begin teaching gay marriage today. Nothing prevents it. Defeat of question 1 will not make teaching gay marriage any more likely.
The fundamental problem here is the false belief by bigots that homosexuality is a decision, a choice. Well all of us who are straight know that being straight is not a choice. We were for all practical purposes born straight. Well if our sexual orientation is fixed then so is the sexual orientation of gays. But by believing that homosexuality is a choice, bigots' belief in religion is preserved, the belief that God is a male chauvinist is preserved, their worldview is preserved. So they must reject the obvious. They must punish those that threaten their worldview.
The idea that parents not teachers should be talking to children about homosexuality is an obvious ploy. Let the parents brainwash their children rather than have them learn objective truths provided without passion or prejudice. The fact is that both parents and teachers should be talking to children at all ages about the realities of sexual activity. But they don't. We have a class of parents who hate sex. They do it. But they hate it. They want their children to grow up as they did. Sick and preverse.

I have never read a more

I have never read a more convoluted and damning (against those who may disagree) defense of homosexuality and gay marriage. Believe me Jon, we are not all bigots and homophobes as you so blatantly paint us with your broad brush. Some of us just don't buy into the gay bull***t. Get it?

Schools are teaching

Schools are teaching homosexuality in schools in Mass. How long do you think it will stay out of our schools? Parents should be talking to their children about homosexuals not teachers, especially first and second graders.
May God bless us.

Here, folks, here is hate

Here, folks, here is hate clearly visible. I dare you to watch the video of gay bashing this week in NYC (just google: hate crime video NYC) and not come away with an understanding of the hate that is being inflicted by our society on gay people. You've got to be taught to hate and fear. Do we want this hate taught in Maine schools? Legalizing second class citizenry is to keep the door to hate open to any kid who needs to beat up another kid to feel self worth. Don't believe it? Have YOU spent half your life teaching? I have. I have seen it.

Speaking of teaching hate,

Speaking of teaching hate, Ive started to get emails from friends who support repealing the marriage act. These emails showhalf naked pictures of gay men with the lead in "Do we want our children to be exposed to this in our schools". There is also an article by someone telling how the "gay agenda" has worked its way into the Mass school system. The stuff seems to have originated on the MassResistance.com website. Anyone else getting this tripe?
