WILTON — A Wilton man is being held on $50,000 cash bail at the Franklin County jail after police say he sexually assaulted a child over the last three years.
Wilton police Lt. E. Page Reynolds arrested Justin Rowe, 28, on Wednesday on felony charges of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact, police Chief Dennis Brown said Thursday.
The gross sexual assault charge carries up to 30 years in jail, with the unlawful sexual contact charge punishable by up to five years.
Rowe turned himself in to another police department, Brown said.
Reynolds and Detective Richard Billian Jr. collected evidence at the scene, which will be brought to the State Crime Laboratory, he said.
Police became aware of the situation after the child confided in a social worker, Brown said.
Rowe remained at the Farmington jail Thursday and is expected to go before a judge at a Farmington court on Friday.
