I have one question to ask about universal health care: Do people really want the same administration that is running Social Security and Medicare to be in charge of their health care also?
People need to give that some thought.
It would mean government officials telling us what we can and can't do when it comes to our well-being.
It seems to me that everything the government has put its hands on has wound up costing the public an arm and a leg, no pun intended.
People need to think about it, and make sure elected officials know their concerns.
I also think that the elected officials should have to go on the same plan they are trying to ram down our throats.

Oh the sky is falling the sky is falling Obama says so, so it must be true. What are you talking about? The tax cut for 95% of the people? Have you gotten one yet? I haven't. I think you liberals are confused. It is a tax credit not a cut. Liberals don't know what a tax cut is,in fact they haven't met a tax increase that they didn't like. We,ve had plenty of spending though, most of the money going to the general spending fund and to the federal and state governments. As Obama said we needed this massive spending to create and save millions of jobs to avoid an "economic catastrophe" . I guess you could say 32 czars and counting, created thirty two jobs. Nice job Obama. The liberals will be talking about those jobs for years to come. Now it's being called a jobless recovery. Sorry no jobs for you or anyone. Why do we need jobs? We're now socialists and the dictator will now take care of our every need. Check out the state of Michigan with 50% unemployment. If his health care plan is anything like what he did to the economy wer're in serious trouble. We need some major CPR to revive this dying economy that Obama just flushed down the toilet.

It took Obama six months to come to a decision on picking out a dog yet he expects congress to pass this massive health care bill in a few weeks. Why doesn't he want anyone to read this 1,000 page bill? Is he afraid it will be a boondoggle just like his massive pig of a pork stimulus bill that created no jobs. No one seems to mention his JOBLESS economic recovery which means very little jobs will result from this bill. It is just a waste of our taxpayer dollars and a redistribution of wealth. This healthcare bill will eventually regulate private insurance out of existence. Obama is using the same scare tactics that he used for the stimulus bill and all the liberal sheeple are on board bleating to the sound of the cult of personality's drum.

It appears that the same people who are running our Social Security and Medicare are also running our Armed Forces, their Health Care, the Health care for Military Retirees, and Disabled Veterans.
Do you think we ought to outsource National Defense to the insurance industry there, Clem??
And I doubt our elected officials will be able to 'ram anything' down your throat. Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Charles Krauthammer, Hannity et al haven't left any room down there.....

As it stands right now, there is an unnamed insurance company bureaucrat driven by shareholder fantasies making your health care choices. Raise premiums and reduce payouts at the expense of the ill.

If you look at who's behind the leading Maine supporters, the so-called "Consumers for Affordable Health Care" group, they have a vested interest in pushing ObamaCare through. Just look at their website, www.mainecahc.org/coalition/memberlist.htm, and you will find a Top-10 list of the Who's Who from the Far Left special interest groups. Can you say ACORN? Please don't fall for their tricks, because we need to do healthcare reform the right way. Unfortunately, they don't see it that way.

how can the number of doctors be reduced, payments to doctors, pharmacutical companies, and insurance companies reduced and still increase the number of people getting benefits by 50 million and have the cost go down? easy. ration care, so those with terminal illness don't get care, elderly don't get care, those that most need services don't get care, and infants and young children with life threatening illnesses won't get care. lets take a trip down memory lane shall we?
The order for the final solution was given sometime in early 1942 after the Wannassee Protocol was issued. This was based on an earlier murder program called T4 and it’s associated program called 14F13 aimed at Jews and gypsies. It was named for the address in Berlin of the agency responsible for the actions, Tiergarten 4. Of the people killed: adults in mental institutions about 100,000, children in institutions about 5,000, Jews and others about 21,000 It is estimated about 1/3 of the mental hospitals were cleared out during this time. Elements of deception make an accurate count impossible.
Copying the German model, in our own version of the Reichs Chancellery, the Obama administration has the brother of Rahm Emanuel, Dr Ezekiel Emanuel serving as director of the Clinical Bio-Ethics Department at the U. S. National Institute of Health and is a key architect of Obama’s health reform plan. His opinion is that the Hippocratic Oath is the driving force behind the high cost of health care in America. He has stated in an interview with Lancet that allocation of health care based on age is not a form of discrimination and there is no guarantee of health care to patients suffering from dementia. In Obama’s version of nationalized medicine these ideas, while morally questionable may become the law. After all the Dr believes that the Hippocratic oath, the very essence of western medicine, and the one binding oath that the Nazi death doctors abrogated across the board is “a problem” because it causes needless expense and Obama Care is all about curbing expenses and somebody has to pay one way or the other. Withholding medicine and care because of age or terminal illness is just fine with them even though this action will increase suffering and hasten death. The proof is in his own words. We seem to forget the Nazi T4 program was started with the best of intentions, the euthanasia of those in vegetative states, those unworthy of life, and folks with incurable diseases because of their long term costs to the state. Are we not doing the same thing with the elderly and those with dementia or incurable diseases because of the cost to the government? If we do, then what kind of nation have we become when the doctors turn their backs on us by force of law? What then is the price of life and how many may die as a result of Obamacare over time?

As I understand it, each state has a insurance commision which set rates for the insurance companies. How difficult would it be to establish one rate at a national level? Maybe this would result in cheaper rates overall, and save more money by elimination of the need for all the insurance commisions.

Almost forgot. You want competition for insurance premiums in Maine to happen, get the politicians in Augusta out of the way and you will see insurance companies that have left the state come back and create all kinds of competition and premiums will come down.

Well Tron, hate to tell you but it isn't the health care system that's in trouble. We have the best health care system in the world. It's the system that we use to pay for it that is ailing. Why is that system having problems? It's called TORT. Reform TORT and insurance premiums will come down. It is the law of this country that no one can be refused treatment in any emergency dept in any hospital. 45 million people don't carry medical insurance and of those 45 million over 75% choose not to purchase medical insurance, either because they feel invincible because of their age or just choose not to purchase insurance. How many people drive around in their auto without insurance. Does that make it necessary for me to pay higher taxes so they can have auto insurance. NO
Get the damn lawyers out of the picture and that 45 million figure will drop.

Yes David. We can't really be that surprised that all of the lawyers with D's after their name in congress won't touch TORT reform with a ten foot tongue depressor. It's ok with them if you withhold care for the terminally ill because it's not "cost effective". But it's ok to sue the doctor for millions when grandpa's heart surgery doesn't turn him into a marathon runner again.

Congratulations Mr. Bechard, you've enumerated all the Fox News talking points quite adequately. Too bad most of them are at best half truths, most are exaggerations. The health system in this country is in a crisis mode, has been for years and yet nothing is done because people like you refuse to allow a Democrat to succeed. Why didn't your guys do something when they were in power? Something has to be done and now it must be done.
