FARMINGTON – A judge sentenced a New Sharon woman to serve four years in prison Thursday for an unprovoked attack on a state trooper last year.
A jury found Carol Murphy, 65, guilty Thursday of assault on an officer with stun-gun and four other charges including refusing to submit to arrest, criminal use of a electronic weapon and two counts of animal cruelty.
Justice Michaela Murphy also sentenced Carol Murphy to serve a nine-month concurrent sentence for each of the other charges connected to the assault.
Justice Murphy also found Carol Murphy guilty of contempt for her conduct in the courtroom during Wednesday's trial.
Carol Murphy disrupted the court several times, calling the judge names among other disruptions.
Justice Murphy ordered Carol Murphy to serve 30 days for contempt, the maximum a judge is allowed to give under the court rule she used.
