Safety is assured

I am a resident of Livermore and the promoter of an upcoming event, "The Heroes of Woodstock," plus several other events to take place in Livermore. I have worked diligently with every state and local agency directly related to assuring the success and safety of those events. I have followed every guideline for holding a mass gathering.

There are many concerns about the number and type of people who would attend. I have been assured of the strong security, traffic control and other aspects so there won't be any problems for me or the town, and no cost incurred by the town's taxpayers.

In these economic times, it is imperative for people and businesses to think outside the box. Local businesses have been suffering. I would estimate that each person coming to a concert would spend at least $20-$50 for food, gas, lodging, whatever. That income would assist all area businesses, and a portion of the proceeds go to Hope Haven Homeless Shelter.

Many town residents are looking for stricter ordinances dealing with concert events. I believe it is imperative to see the pros and cons the concerts would bring before adding more regulations to restrict (though not ban) concerts. I hope people can just take a deep breath, enjoy the music and take note that the promoter has gone to great lengths to ensure the safety and integrity of the town and the people who live there.

Mike, This sounds like a great event! It is a shame that so many places have the "Not In My Backyard" attitude when a well-run event would not cause any problems and would benefit so many.

I found more info on the show at: www.theheroesofwoodstock.com and http://www.pr.com/press-release/160992.
