Four men arraigned on marijuana trafficking, growing charges

FARMINGTON — Two Industry men and two Farmington men facing felony marijuana trafficking and growing charges all pleaded not-guilty to the charges during their arraignments Friday in Franklin County Superior Court.

The four were arrested last September after drug agents seized more than 40 pounds of harvested marijuana at an Industry home and another 125 plants growing in a basement at 1121 Industry Road. The street value of the marijuana was estimated by drug agents at more than $200,000.

Those arrested on the trafficking and growing charges were Charles M. Correll, 50, who owns the home; Robert J. Sirois, 56, of 249 Seamon Road in Farmington; Eric C. Hall, 38, of 8 Times Square Road in Industry; and Matthew W. Hemingway, 45, of 422 Farmington Falls Road in Farmington.

They were each released on $250 cash bail in September and were indicted on the charges last month.

Bail will continue as set and the next court date set for each of the four men by Justice Michaela Murphy is June 8.

The reason why cannabis was

The reason why cannabis was even criminalized was because a few powerful, greedy men's empires were threatened by the hemp plant. http://altnews.com.au/drop/node/1434" <- this article does a good job of explaining how that happened. One of the government's most successful tricks up its sleeves are taxing things that they deem morally reprehensible. The people always subscribe to this, and give the gov more and more control over our personal lives. We live in an age of gov induced hypersensitivity, and now any little annoyance that is able to be stigmatized w/ propaganda is indulged as a legitimate problem. Pretty soon they're going to start persecuting ppl for wearing white, since it reflects light the best and technically would put the ppl around them at a greater risk for skin cancer (bad example, I know, because at least cancer has been proven to harm your health, unlike weed). Yea, it's ridiculous sounding, but the logic is exactly the same as ppl that can't stand being around smokers. The government is the one instilling a sense of corporeality and attachment to our bodies, which is just another exercise in using fear (the only thing that governments are good at) as well as an attempt at preserving our bodies to increase productivity to the state (what other governments were health nuts for this same reason? oh yea, the nationalist socialist party). The same goes for the way the gov targets certain items to hike up the taxes on, such as "sin taxes." Like almost all laws passed in this country, there's always some corporate bullshit behind it. I took a free smoking cessation class back when I was in college, and it seemed like they legitimately wanted to help me until they started throwing expensive teeth whitening products at us at the end. (I remember one of the brands was malibu bright, which is by no means a cheap complimentary toothbrush if that's what you were picturing). They should just call it "the government needs an excuse to take more of our money" tax.

Idiots.

I grow my own tobacco...
Don't legalize weed. Do you really want more stoners in the world? I mean honestly... They suck. Smoking weed is something you're supposed to grow out of. Grow up move on.

And too the original poster... Yes... The country is falling apart. Is that reason to legalize a substance that will just make everyone dumber and lazier. Lets legalize SPEED. Bring back COCAINE. Get the country off it's ass and doing things. The last thing we need is another sedative.

has nothing to do with GIBBA

So what... go on legalize weed. who cares, it has nothing to do with it. If you legalize weed there will ne no money in it. Theses four lazy scum will not grow tax free weed anymore. The point is...... they want easy money if weed is legalized they'll move on to the next best think problably scripst or steeling copper. SO you see it has nothing to do with weed. It is just four lazy people trying to make the most out of nothing. So if they are not growing weed there problably steeling your stuff or costing someother way.  They are criminals it what they do. EASY MONEY.

who's addicted

thats what burns me is that those who whine most about the legalization of marijuana are the ones who stick an addictive narcotic in their face 40 times a day and get their kids hooked or who down a couple of six packs a day and get their kids hooked.  marijuana isn't even addictive, you don't have to smoke it to enjoy it, you can drive when using it unlike alcohol and you can quit anytime. i would urge my kids not to smoke it cause smoking anything isn't good for the lungs but i'd lots rather having them using dope than have them die from lung cancer from smoking or driving when drunk.  loosen up , you cigarette smoking drunks.

"you can drive when using

"you can drive when using it?........WHAT?  I certainly hope you don't.

Nicotine is not a narcotic.  Neither is canabis (THC).

Yes lets just legalize

Yes lets just legalize everything that is bad, just to tax the hell out of it and make money. Prostitution doesn’t “hurt anybody” – Let’s throw a whore on every corner!

I for one would rather my children NOT grow up thinking that smoking dope is acceptable any more than I want them to have to walk by a hooker ont he way to school.

The funny thing is, if it WAS legal, these guys probably wouldn't be growing it in the first place. Phillip Morris and R.J. Reynolds would have that market locked down, and they'd be pumping your precious little joints full of all sorts of chemicals. Potheads are so gawddam stupid they can't even grasp what will actually happen if they DO win their little "fight" to legalize it. That, or they're to stoned to care.

Bad parent

So I am right assuming you children think it is right to drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes? You are a bad parent.

And on the prostitution matter- it should be legal- who does it really hurt at all? Well, I am sure your feelings are hurt knowing nobody on this planet would ever pay to have sex with your fat ass.

Wow, you just have me all

Wow, you just have me all figured out don’t you?

I’d rather be a drunkard than a hippy burnout prostitute.

Legalize it! 10000.00 from tax revenue

10000.00 from tax revenue is what the state would have received in taxes. if marijuana was legal. Can you imagine how much tax revenue would have already been in the state cofers if it was? Think about all the marijuana busts thay have had and given us a street value for then base the tax on the states minimun of 5%. That would have been a nice start on the deficit this state is facing. But, of course, we all know legalization won't happen any time soon because our darling Legislature and Governor (as well as citizens) of this lovely state just couldn't possibly legalize something they don't believe in, right? (Keep in mind prohibition...alcohol became legal AND taxed, marijuana is coming like it or not. Just like alcohol did).

xyz's picture

If it is worth that much we surely should legalize and tax it.

"The street value of the marijuana was estimated by drug agents at more than $200,000."
