Woman in Turner fatal killed by blunt force; Police say driver was speeding

AUBURN — A Greene woman apparently hit by a speeding car when she went to check a relative's mailbox in Turner two weeks ago died accidentally from multiple blunt force trauma, a spokeswoman at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said.

The driver of the car has an extensive record of driving offenses, a search by the Sun Journal showed.

Since 2006, Brandon Earl Pelletier, 19, of Turner has been convicted three times for speeding, once in 2006 and twice in 2007. He was twice convicted for failing to stop at a stop sign, once in 2006 and once in 2008. He was convicted of illegal transportation of liquor in 2008 and of operating an unregistered motor vehicle in 2007.

He also was convicted of operating after suspension, once in 2007 and once in 2008. He has been convicted of failing to display an inspection sticker, failing to produce evidence of insurance and littering.

Pelletier's license has been suspended seven times since it was issued in December 2006. It was last restored on April 17, 2009.

He was involved in another accident in Turner in July 2007. He was driving a Honda motorcycle south on Upper Street and, according to the accident report, lost control and crossed over and through the northbound lane. The motorcycle rolled over and came to rest in a field. Pelletier sustained minor injuries in the crash.

A report detailing the July 24 accident in Turner showed Sharon B. Call, 65, was walking toward a mailbox in a relative's driveway at about 9:45 a.m. on the rainy Friday when she was struck by a car driven by Pelletier, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department. The force of the collision threw her into tall grass where her body was found about an hour later by relatives.

Pelletier lost control of the 1995 Chevrolet Camaro. It skidded on wet pavement about 100 yards across the driveway and a lawn before going down an embankment and into a grassy field.

The sheriff's department report said illegal or unsafe speed was a primary contributing factor in the accident. The report cited a defective tire or tire failure as a secondary factor.

Maine State Police are reconstructing the accident, officials said. Damage to the car driven by Pelletier and owned by Jane Pelletier of Turner was estimated at $6,000. It was towed to the Maine Crime Lab in Augusta where it is being checked for mechanical defects and signs of contact with a pedestrian, officials said.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident.

It makes no difference these

It makes no difference these kind of people will drive without a license or not. They should look at charging his mother also. The best thing to do with these lowlifes is sterilization so they won't contaminate are population further. Lets not forget his female passenger she is just as guilty.

I hardly think the passenger

I hardly think the passenger is guilty unless he was drunk and she was not.

I think jdperform is right.

I think jdperform is right. From what I have read on here over the last few weeks, the family has had it's share of challenges. Brandon needs to take responsiblity for his actions and learn that there are consequences when you choose to live the way he has been. We need to remember that this could be someone we love and that no family is immune from this type of tragedy. It is so easy to judge when it does not effect you.

This is outrageous! He

This is outrageous! He never should have been driving and with his previous record, he should have been in jail. Obviously he holds no respect for the law. How incredibly selfish to drive as he wishes, causing accidents, and then this time not even telling the police that he hit something/someone. He had to have known. He should lose his license permanently and spend some major time in jail. It's evident by his record that he hasn't learned from past experiences so this should be considered murder with the car, his weapon. How heart-breaking for the family of the woman.

And the woman may have been

And the woman may have been alive still and the driver didn't even go help her or at least tell the police about what really happened. Sick.

I can't even express the

I can't even express the anger I feel that this stupid pathetic guy will walk away from this as if nothing happened. And there is a family mourning the loss of a loved one. Our pathetic District attorney won't press charges, which is an insult to the family and the deceased. This is wrong.....this is just so horribly wrong.

seriously! what is wrong with this picture? two people dead - how many more is it going to take before they figure out there is a problem. i cant believe he even had a license to begin with after the first!! i live in the greene area. now i dont even want my son to go check the mail for us!

i am in agreement with you

i am in agreement with you blue eyes.
i am just so ticked off that the state is allowing little punks like him to just have no respect for human life,
he obviously has no remorse considering it is a repeated offense.
same with sex offenders. lord knows they do it all the time and ruin lives and they are still roaming the streets like predators.
it is just sick!

driving violations get more attention. so watch out for that headlight thats out, or your inspection oh and your lapse in insurance. i am sure they will get you for that! it is a joke.
lets give them more money to keep us safe.

No charges have been filed?

No charges have been filed? He killed a woman for God's sakes! And don't tell me he didn't know he hit her! He has all these driving offenses, which obiviously haven't slowed him down, literally. And they aren't going to charge him with anything when he killed a woman? Wow...this states judicial system just keeps on going to hell. Why do the cops bother to write any more tickets? What good does it do?

Hey Chip......The driver of the car has an extensive record of driving offenses....how do you think he got the record? By law enforcement doing its job.
The cops only write the tickets to enforce the law. Go to the district court, sit down for arraignments and listen to the deals that the local district attorney's office hands out and the judges sit there, putting their stamps on these deals.
Talk to any cop and he'll tell you of their frustration with such a skewed system.

What, he didn't know he hit

What, he didn't know he hit a woman? He lied to police and never told them that he hit a person? Throw the book at him, he shouldn't ever be driving. He will be one of those that has so many convictions, but still drives and he will probably kill more innocent people. Wake up Maine law enforcement and judges!!

What are theywaiting for? It

What are theywaiting for? It is obvious that the car struck Sharon Call. Brandon needs to be held accountable for his actions and he needs to lose his license permanently.. For a young person who has only had his license for three years the charges against him are appalling and he should not have a license ever again. He needs to growup and accept and prove responsibility.
