Governor? I don't think so

Well, we Republicans have shot ourselves in the foot, again.

What is a body to do? I cannot vote for a man who thinks that humans and dinosaurs coexisted on Earth when it was suddenly formed 6,000 years ago. If he kept those views private, that would be fine, but he wants (creationism) taught in the public schools.

Maine would be a laughingstock of the scientific community.

I am sorry ... Paul LePage is probably a nice man and a successful manager at Marden's ... but governor of a state? I don't think so.

So who are those independent guys?

Thanks to xyz and his cohorts

Thanks to xyz and his cohorts for proving beyond doubt that dinosaurs still exist among us humans. The announcement of your extinction was obviously premature. The new schedule calls for early November 2010.

Paul Lepage

Mr Lepage has publiclystated that he believes in creationism? Scary!

Closing of the shipyard

Could it be the closing of the Naval shipyard that was also our own undoing in those course of events? Given that many of the customers to several stores were enlisted? How about pushing the State in the wrong direction being a Republican fault our own due to incompetence. So much for the welfare population which you plug on and on about. Then again you never had any of the brilliance to see that perhaps it was the Naval shipyards closing which damaged the population the most. Duh... duh... duh I'm a Conservative communist with a short attention span on the past; much like every Conservative that has ever been SonOfTron makes a fine example.

Albrecht, Obama's administration was in charge of overseeing BP. You are an idiot! Won't it be terrible when the liberal tax and spenders that have been financing your living for years get tossed on their butts out of office?

Great for Mardens

As Governor, Mr. LePage would be able to enhance his employer, as he did when he allowed 200 jobs to walk out the door at the LL Bean call center in Waterville recently. LLB was having weekend sales that weren't going to Mardens. That stopped when LLB started opening stores in other states. Which meant that LLB was paying rent, electricity, heat ETC. on a large building, half of which was empty. As mayor, did Mr. LePage ask LLB what it doing with half an empty building? Does Mardens pay rent on empty buildings? LLB couldn't get a break on the lease from the owners. And Mr. LePage did nothing. So when the lease was up, LLB didn't renew. I don't think you or I would have renewed, either. 200 people walked out the door at the end of April and the owner has an empty building. I don't think Mickey Marden would have allowed that without a fight. Nice job, mayor. Now you want us to vote for you to do what?

Does his administration also consider the five year marker on disabled veterans for medical care? Does this also mean that it comes down to retirees in that community? What more can be done if food stamps for the elderly are cut along with veterans benefits for MaineCare and welfare systems?

cranky yankee

Where did you come from. I spend my time trying to get these looney conservatives to examine their failed formulas and along comes you. Sane, rational, factual. I'm shocked.

Conservatives learn something

I know its against your principles at least since the death of Russel Kirk to learn anything, but read the Republican platform. No sane Mainer can support such lunacy. Its not conservative; its crazy.

And the repealed "tax reform"

And the repealed "tax reform" would have been a good deal, right?

Conservatives facts two words that can't be used in the same

sentence. Yes, selling junk for cheap is the Republican motto. With the Gulf of Mexico destroyed by cost-cutting at BP ad the complete failure of the Federal Government to regulate them, we should believe they have our best interests at heart. Give us a break. Success at Mardens; we should applaud that. LePage has oversold is ceremonial position of Mayor of Waterville.
Let's stop the lies. Maine is not doing poorly because of 35 years of Democratic control of the legislature. That's just Republicans pointing fingers at any one other than themselves. For 100 years Republicans contolled Maine. Poor worthless farms dotted every road and village while huge corporations prevented businesses from opening so that they would control the labor market.
A LePage vistory means poverty for Maine, the ruination of our scenic landscape, and the health of Maine's citizens.

cranky, the democraps have been in the majority in this state for 35 years, and look where we are. Top 10 nationally in taxes, aging population because our young people have to go elsewhere for jobs, and a mecca for people wanting welfare or disability benefits. Tax and spend is the democratic mantra. Look at Obama as an example, using the oil spill disaster to push his cap and tax BS. I do have a clue cranky, that's apparently why I piss you off!

SSDD, your comments are a joke! Maine has been controlled by democrats for years, and we're in the financial crapper. Tax and spend, period. On the national level, King Obama with the help of his minions, Pelosi and Reid, is on a fast track to breaking GWB's record as worst president ever!

GARY SAVARD's picture

I will vote for Paul Lepage

I will vote for Paul Lepage because his idea of how Maine's government should be operated coincides with mine. Libby Mitchell has been part of the tax and spend problems in Augusta for 35 years and we need change. I will not be voting based on their religious beliefs, since I will be voting for a governor, not a religious or spiritual leader. On that end, I don't care what any of the candidates think.
