Not a wise suggestion

Regarding Auburn's proposal for a single polling place — I applaud the effort to save tax dollars, but to do so at the expense of possibly limiting citizen participation in government was absurd, and almost heretical in my opinion. It would be the epitome of "penny-wise and pound-foolish."

Thanks to all who attended the council meeting and voiced the many clear reasons to maintain Auburn's present polling locations, and to the councilors for voting to do so.

Sanity prevailed, that is a good sign.

Bob Mennealy, Auburn

Former Auburn City Councilor

I think Ray Berube is one of

I think Ray Berube is one of the problems.

Well at least tron didn't

Well at least tron didn't blame me for this one...hey danny, why not be so bold as to use actual names of the councilors you think are a problem....what have you got to hide? Call out individuals if you think they are a problem rather than all of us right wing wacko's - you know those who work, pay taxes and actually help the city as volunteers and elected officials...

" Just like no spring clean

" Just like no spring clean up, reduce plowing this winter and other ideas."

But Aho had no problem taking a raise, or giving the school dept over a half million dollars in raises. We are not going to plow at night, but Aho gets a raise. I do believe it is time for a new council and manager.

tron's picture

Mr. Aho did not 'take' a raise, he was given one by

the Council. Mr. Aho can only make recommendations on what to spend, the council has the final approval. If you believe it's time for a new council, wait a year, there will be another electionl.

Tron, are you saying that it

Tron, are you saying that it was the right wing wackos who wanted one polling place, and it was also the right wing wackos who wanted to keep the polling places in the perspective wards? You make no sense.

tron's picture

What I'm saying is, it was the teabaggers

on this council who voted to reduce the Mr. Aho's budget so much that this was one of the results. Just like no spring clean up, reduce plowing this winter and other ideas. The general public, wackos, but mostly normal people, were the ones who changed the councilors minds. Makes perfect sense, to someone who doesn't have a hidden agenda.

tron...seriously...first you

tron...seriously...first you come out swinging...its the right wing wackos who caused the one polling idea to help "their agenda". Then when someone voices their view which is diametrically opposed to your theory, you come back with..."who decided to move all the polling places away from the city, where the majority of voters live, to the outskirts of town, to discourage Democrats and make it easier for you teabaggers to vote." Take your foot off the gas pedal or lower your dose of whatever you are on. You have been watching the movie Conspiracy Theory waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. Tron, I've said it before and I will say back away from the ledge, you are way too quick to theorize conspiracy and you pull the trigger on the name calling. i have found on occasion that you have contributed with a valid point or two but youo dilute these moments of clarity with smatherings of prejudice. I really would so prefer to have civil discord on these sites because one thing I used to like was hearing other peoples opinions which differ from my own. Am I asking too much for civil discussions here? In the last few years the vitriolic polarization of our society has gotten to the point where I am seriously disturbed by it.

Tron, you are a one line

Tron, you are a one line wonder.

As a right wing wacko, I was against one polling place. All of my right wing wacko friends were also against it. Us right wing wackos believe in neighborhood polling places. However, some of the D's I know, were all for one place.
By the way, this was a Glen Aho idea, I am sure he is a D.

tron's picture

So it was you and your wacko buddies

who decided to move all the polling places away from the city, where the majority of voters live, to the outskirts of town, to discourage Democrats and make it easier for you teabaggers to vote. This has been going on for years, removing Great Falls school, then Boys and Girls club from being voting stations, and moving it to Fairview and Sherwood Heights. Also, I have no idea what party Mr. Aho belongs to, but there is no way you can blame all of this on him. The teabaggers on the council forced him to make a million dollar cut in his budget, then approved what he found. Now the council will have to find money to pay for all five voting stations, like they are responsible to do.

This was merely an attempt

by the right wing wackos to discourage majority voting to usurp power. It didn't succeed, this time.
