NH lawmaker involved in fatal accident in Alfred, Maine

ALFRED, Maine (AP) A New Hampshire lawmaker has been involved in a fatal accident with a motorcyclist in Maine.

Maine state police said Republican state Rep. Laurie Boyce of Alton, N.H., turned left onto Route 111 in Alfred, Maine, into the path of the motorcycle, killing 45-year-old Shane McCarthy of Lee, N.H. McCarthy's wife, identified as 41-year-old Lezlie Perham, was seriously injured.

The Friday afternoon accident remains under investigation.

Driver Distractions

One cannot help but wonder if the "Cell Phone Craze" contributes to what appears to be an increased number of mishaps. I see so many people with these gadgets glued to their ears while driving. What are they talking about??? IMO driving requires your utmost attention and shouldn't be taken for granted as I feel a significant number of folks do!!!
