Auburn man pleads guiilty to meth charges

AUBURN – A Minot Avenue man and his ex-girlfriend admitted Friday to charges stemming from a methamphetamine raid at a Minot Avenue home in April.

Eric Merrill, 30, of 1510 Minot Ave., pleaded guilty in Androscoggin County Superior Court to charges of unlawful possession and trafficking in scheduled drugs. His sentencing will be addressed once Merrill completes time in drug court. While involved in that program, Merrill is prohibited from going into bars or having contact with anyone using liquor or drugs.

Pamela Connor, 26, of Lewiston, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted trafficking, according to court documents. The case against her was deferred for two years, a span in which she is expected to abide by strict conditions, including 60 hours of public service, substance abuse counseling and random searches.

Merrill's arrest in the spring followed a long investigation by state and local police.  State drug agents raided a house on Omer Street in Lewiston in February seeking evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing. A resident there, James Ludlow, 35, was charged with two drug felonies in connection with that raid. Connor, described as Ludlow's girlfriend in court papers, was also arrested in the raid.

Ludlow has denied the charges against him and is awaiting trial.

Police said in court papers that during their investigation into Ludlow's case they learned Merrill had been buying pseudoephedrine in similar quantities as Ludow from local stores. His girlfriend, Pamela Connor, 26, was Merrill's ex-girlfriend and the mother of Merrill's children. Investigators said she also was buying from local stores pseudoephedrine, the over-the-counter drug used in making methamphetamine.
