A tornado that touched down Friday in Norway and traveled northeast for 16 miles before dissipating in Hartford near the intersection of Route 219 and Church Road, apparently hadn’t weakened enough when it hit this cabin.

These “oak trees are 12 to 20 inches in diameter and were twisted like pretzels,” said Ralph Dunn in an e-mail. The National Weather Service in Gray rated the tornado as EF-1 on the Enhanced Fugita Scale with maximum winds estimated between 100 and 110 mph.
The high winds pushed this cabin in Hartford six feet off of its cement foundation, Dunn reported. This was the sixth confirmed tornado in Maine in 2009. Maine normally averages two tornadoes a year, according the the National Weather Service.

Very few insurance policies
Very few insurance policies exclude coverage for tornadoes and I am not sure where "Act of God" comes into play. "Act of God" is not mentioned in any insurance policy I have ever read. I have customers with damage to their homes from this tornado and their claims are being paid. I encourage everyone to read your insurance policy. You might be surprised at how much it does cover.

Thank goodness there weren't any injuries, fatalities, or pets that were hurt in Western Maine on Friday. This was pretty scarry.

I don't think insurance covers this! :-(
Although I'm not sure how any insurance company thinks it can prove that a tornado is an "Act of God". Far easier to prove it's an act of nature.
