AUBURN — A pedestrian was struck by a truck while walking at Youngs Corner Road and Summer Street on Thursday night and police were looking for the driver of the pickup.
Police and rescue crews went to the intersection at about 7:15 p.m. after the pedestrian was reported hit near the dark corner, a short distance from Hotel Road.
The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston where he was being treated Thursday night. Police, meanwhile, began searching for a man said to be driving a pickup truck, presumably with front-end damage.
Police searched the bushes near the crash site as they began their investigation, finding a sneaker in the tall grass.
By late Thursday night, police were not available with further information on the victim or the truck.
